SLice of Life Challenge: Chapter 30 Back Home
Posted by blk1 on March 30, 2008
A Firm, Gentle Push
We are back.
Tuvia is in motion unpacking, checking phone messages, stirring things up.
I shower, change into warm pjs, find my seat in the kitchen, turn on House Hunters, and begin clicking away IMing with Nancy and Karen, reading Slices and email.
We are in our own transition worlds.
I patiently wait my turn to return all the way home. That will happen in the morning as Tuvia gently pushes me out into the crisp morning air and back into my Prius to get back to the Hudson.
At 3am and we are together in the kitchen sharing home with Tropicana OJ, Nabisco Shredded Wheat and COFFEE, my coffee with the last of last week’s milk.
Even though it’s only 28 and my sandals will need to wait patiently before they are out of their bag again,
Tuvia is out grocery shopping by 7:15 and he will be back gently pushing me to follow his lead. I’m not quite ready yet, but I’m sure that by 9am I too will be ready to be home at the Hudson.
I think our month has just one more day yes? I want to keep slicing!!!!!!

One more day … for now.
Welcome home
Kevin
PS — Those were all new Quickfiction stories but maybe I am starting to echo myself? Hellllllooooo in there. Thus, the need to one day go back and look more closely at what I have actually written and accomplished.

Love the gentle pushing – the slow transition to home which will come, but always on each person’s own timing. I felt this last summer when I returned after six weeks traveling with the boys.

Seamless transitions are never as easy as they look. Welcome home.

Welcome home, Bonnie! I always take the return home slowly — some might say I take it too slowly! Looking forward to keeping up with your blog beyond the SOL challenge.
