Comments Challenge is Coming to An End: Can it Be?

Posted by blk1 on May 29, 2008

It’s almost the end of this challenge and  because of the connections I’ve made by visiting the blog homes of comment challenge participants, I discovered my next challenge from Kate Foy. So I will not be without a challenge now for a few months.

I have to confess that I didn’t take up all the challenges. I did read what other bloggers did with them and I even left comments in their discussions and that was HUGE for me.

This challenge was a true eye-opener.

I used the month to really move around the blogosphere in a meaningful way, increasing my role in the community provided for us and beyond.

I worked on my own blog and how I communicate in this virtual world.

I reflected often as a blogger and commenter.

It was really a fantastic experience and the daily challenges offered to us by the comment challenge team, was fantastic.  I am hoping to return to the Comment Challenge Wiki for more.

I’m sure I will return to this post to say more, but here we are so far.

What you do think?  What am I leaving out?

I’ll second that. I only did a few of the challenge activities, but it completely changed my relationship with blogging. Commenting on people’s blogs made me feel first, like part of a community. It also made me read more carefully and want to connect with people. I realize more than ever to what degree blogging is a conversation, not just a writing venue. I made a commitment to make a new entry on one of my blogs every day or so because if people are coming to read it, I think they should have fresh things to read. I’m hoping that more people will eventually get over their comment shyness, as I love those comment based conversations.
    Thanks for the reflection, Bonnie.

    Kia Ora Bonnie!

Love the image taster. I am fascinated by water. I think my fascination started when I sailed from Britain to South Africa (and back again three years later) as a child. I could almost hear the lapping of the water around the ruined pier in your pics.

I couldn’t figure out whether it was the sea or a lake, but it is certainly a tranquil place.

Clasped, close below the shell-encrusted lip,
clutches of mussels all garlanded with
rock-weed baubles and bits of flotsam ranged
quaintly as if by design, rearranged
by chance chosen pulses of waves lapping
and overlapping, laughing at the lapsed
    tide-line being aligned and re-aligned.

    Lovely Ken,
I think the photo you mention is the Hudson River. I’m not sure. I have so many photos going now. I’m making myself crazy. Just joined a new photo challenge on Flickr and added a new plug in.
But it’s good to be connected to you and your work.

Okay I’ve searched and looked. Maybe I’ve missed it but you have to put me out of my misery what is the next Challenge? I’m glad you gained from the Challenge; I also picked and choose which tasks I did. I learned the most from reading what everyone else was doing and interacting with their posts by commenting.

@Lynn I’m glad the Comment Challenge completely changed your relationship with blogging. Lots of people have mentioned that while they haven’t done the daily activities they have learned a lot from the Challenge.

    Kia Ora Bonnie,

whatever happened to the image taster. Is there something I’m missing on your post. When I put my last comment you had an image taster dsiplayed. Oops, what have I done wrong this time?

I don’t think there was an image teaser here Ken. But I am having trouble uploading my photos on edublog since the upgrade. Must be something weird. It’s working at word press but here I don’t seem to have all the tabs I need. I started using my alternative route, Fickr first and then just grabbing the image on the Flock tool bar.

So you AREN’T CRAZY, as far as I know.

I enjoy reading everyone’s experiences with the comment challenge and would have loved to have joined in. In fact I enrolled but co-comment kept crashing my internet explorer. Anyway, it seemed to be a great success with all its participants.

I hear that was a problem for a lot of people Anne. I had some help as I was signing in so that didn’t happen, but there will be more to come.
