The Kindle, I have Mine, what about you?

I was just innocently watching Charlie Rose one night and by chance, he was interviewing Jeff Bezos of Amazon.com who was unwrapping his new stand alone ebook Kindle. I’ve been watching these creations but so far I had been holding back. Jeff won me over in 25 minutes(it’s his intellectual salesmanship I suppose.) I was online and checking it out, almost ready to click the key that would charge my credit card $400.00. My finger was poised and by the very end of the interview, I was hooked and clicked.
On Saturday moring, as I climbed down my apartment stairs to check the mailbox I had the box waiting for me I wasn’t expecting it before Friday and there is casually sat. I unpacked it carefully, package by package. Al Gore didn’t oversee this marketing decision, but I did plop down a good amount of money for a first generation product, which most techies, warn against. I needed this one more than the I Phone. I’ve been waiting to replace the paperback when reading in bed or under a tree.
Patience was essential to begin of course. It’s battery needed charging and I had guests arriving for dinner. I put it on my leather reading chair and let it be. Of course every now and then I made my way over to check on its progress. Once the guests were gone, the dishes done, and everything quiet again, I had my chance to play, but I confess, I was just too tired to begin. Tuvia forced me up and away from it.
Sunday morning, finally I began with the users manual and started getting familiar with it mass of buttons. It seemed very user friendly and I downloaded Three Cups of Tea, as I planned. I am ready to read. More details to follow, but it looks great.
